Please read through and fill out the following information if you are interested in being a part of the Antioch Cheerleading Program!

Try-out Clinics:

Where: Oak Park Main Gym 

When: June 7th - June 9th

Time: 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. 

Try-out materials including cheer, chant and expectations will be taught at these workshops and your attendance is strongly encouraged. Please come dressed in appropriate work-out attire. –Tryout material will be posted to https://antiochcheer.blogspot.com/ on June 5th.

TRY-OUTS— June 10th

Where: Oak Park Main Gym

Time: 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. 

**If you are unavailable to attend the try-out on this date, please see a cheerleading coach about other available arrangements.

Paperwork needed in order to tryout (all items due by June 7th):

2. Physical – must be current.  You can obtain the physical form in the office at Antioch, Gateway or on our district website.  We must have a copy of a physical dated after Feb. 1st, 2021 to be eligible for the next two years. *See Coach Jones if you have a question about this.

**If paperwork is not completed and turned in before tryouts, this will negatively affect your eligibility to try out. Please stay on top of these things to ensure you have the opportunity to be involved in Antioch Cheer.

Oak Park Cheerleading Try-Outs

For all Antioch 8th graders interested in trying out for high school cheerleading at Oak Park:

All-school Try-out Clinics for 8th graders as well as all Oak Park students:
Where: Oak Park Main Gym
When: March 22nd –March 25th
Time: 5:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.

*Make sure you get a new physical ASAP! It must be dated Feb. 1, 2021.

We are finally going to get to hold our end of season celebration!

What: End of Season Celebration

When: February 25th, 2021 from 3:00 pm to 4:30 pm

Where: AMS Auditorium

There will not be any transportation provided as there are no busses. We will provide pizza, give out awards, watch our showcase and the showcases of other middle schools and have some fun! 

UNIFORM TURN -IN

*We will also be doing uniform turn in that day. Please bring your skirt and shell back washed! The poms and bows are yours to keep!

 Looking at the weather again this week, it looks very unlikley that we will be able to have our End of Season Celebration tomorrow, so we are going to postpone until next week.

End of Season Celebration & Uniform Turn-In

Showcase Tonight!!

 We are so excited that Showcase is finally here! Everyone has worked so hard and it time to show off all of your talent and hard work Spartans!

Cheerleaders should be in the auxillary gym at Oak Park dressed and ready no later than 5:20pm. 

Formal Performance will be at 6:30pm.

Poms for Monday Practice

 Just a reminder to make sure you bring your Poms to Monday practice!

SNOW DAY! Practice Schedule Change & Showcase Info

 Practice is cancelled for today due to inclement weather.  We will have practice Thursday as scheduled. 

PRACTICES BEING ADDED

FRIDAY, Jan 29

We are adding a practice Friday this week to replace the practice we are missing today.  There will be busses providing transportation for those that currently ride the bus. 

MONDAY Feb. 1

We are adding a practice Monday Feb. 1 from 3:00pm to  4:45pm. Busses will be provided for the students that verified they needed the bus at practice last night. The time the bus come will be different than usual so check with Coach Edens at practice on Thursday to find out what time your bus will come Monday.

SHOWCASE UPDATE

Our showcase will be held on Feb. 2, 2021 at Oak Park Middle School in the auxillary gym. All cheerleaders need to arrive in full uniform with poms no later than 5:30pm. We will begin warmups and then will be filming our routine. It may take more than one try to get it all on film so bring water! 

Cheerleaders are allowed up to 2 spectators each. At least 1 of the spectators must be an adult. All spectators of all ages are required to wear masks while on school property with no exceptions at all times. Parents may stay during practice and filming when bringing cheerleaders or may leave and return for the performance at 6:30pm. We are excited to be able to provide this opportunity for the girls to show off what they have been working so hard to do. In order to ensure we have the best possible outcomes we ask spectators to not talk to or distract the cheerleaders in any way during practice, filming, or performance. 

We will be live streaming the event and filming for those than are unable to attend. 

YEAR END ACTIVITY

We will be having a year end activity with uniform turn-in for our cheerleaders at Antioch. This will not be open to spectators. We will annouce the date on Tuesday here on the cheer blog. Please check back for further details. 

Showcase Update as of January 19th

 We are moving the date of Showcase to February 2nd. We will still be having it at Oak Park and will be allowing 2 spectators per cheerleader. We will post all the details again next week. 

Activites This Week

 Tuesday, January 19th:

We have a game tonight. The NAVY squad is cheering tonight. 

The squad should be at school dressed and ready no later than 3:00pm. 

The game starts at 4pm. 

Parents should be prepared to pick up cheerleaders by 6pm unless notified otherwise.

SHOWCASE 2021 INFO!!!!

CHEER SHOWCASE 2021

Due to Covid we will not be able to have our annual showcase with all four middle schools in person. So instead we will be having an individual performance by Antioch at Oak Park and will be allowing 2 spectators per cheerleader. We will be filming our showcase that night as well so it can be shared with other schools. 

The details are below:

Date: Janaury 28th, 2021

Location: Oak Park High School - Auxillary Gym

Time: Filming from 5:30 to 6:30, Performance for spectators @ 6:30pm

Cheerleaders will need to be dropped off by 5:30 pm at Oak Park High School as we will not have after school supervision or transportation from Antioch. Parents can either stay and watch the recording session or may leave and come back at 6:30. All cheerleaders will need to be picked up no later than 7pm. 

We are currently trying to also arrange live streaming for our performance as well for those that cannot attend in person. 

Ordering Pictures and Schedule

If you would like to order pictures, please have your cheerleader return their envelope to the office no later than Wednesday morning (Jan. 10). If they want a squad photo they will need to write which color squad they are in on the outside of the envelope (Red, Navy,White). Prices are located on the envelope. 

Schedule this week:

Monday - Pratice from 3:00pm to 4:45pm

Tuesday - Game @4pm Antioch - White Squad  - be dressed and ready by 3:00 pm.

Thursday -  Game @4pm Antioch - Red Squad - be dressed and ready by 3:00 pm.

CHEER PICTURES!!!

 

We will be doing pictures Friday, January 8th before our game.

This means we need everyone at Antioch dressed and ready for pictures no later than 2:30 pm! You can come as early as 2:12 down to Ms. Edens room. 

Students will be given an envelope to bring home with them when their pictures are taken. We will not be taking "friend" pictures as we will only have time for individuals and a team photo before we leave for Oak Park.

Just a quick note to remind cheerleaders and parents of upcoming events:

PRACTICES

Full team practice is Monday (Jan. 4) and Tuesday (Jan. 5) this week from 3:00 pm to 4:45 pm. As we get closer to our showcase and put our finishing touches on our routine it will become increasingly important to attend practice and stay healthy. We will be recording our showcase this year.

As always, please remember practices can be added when needed. Always check the calendar on this blog for updates or changes. 

GAME FRIDAY 

ALL SQUADS have a game Friday at Oak Park. The bus will depart at 3:15 pm and we will be taking pictures prior to leaving, so cheerleaders should be at school dressed and ready no later than 2:30 pm. Each cheerleader is permitted 2 spectators at Oak Park during the game. At least one of the spectators must be an adult. The game details are below:

Exciting News for December 8th Game!!!

 

We just learned last night that our December 8th game has been moved to Oak Park High School. This is exciting because we will be allowed to have spectators for the first time this season! With the extra room at Oak Park each athlete will be allowed 2 spectators! One of those must be an adult. 

Each squad (Red, Navy, and White) will cheer 1 game that day. Spectators can only attend 1 of the games and will need to clear the gym for the next game. In other words you would not be able to come early and watch the Red or Navy Squad and stay for the White Squad. Anyone arriving early will be asked to wait in their cars until right before the game starts. Masks will be required at all times while on school property and we ask that you keep 6 feet of distance between families.

Red Squad will cheer for A Team at 4pm in the Main Gym.

Navy Squad will cheer for C Team at 4pm in the Auxillary Gym.

White Squad will cheer for B Team at 5pm in the Auxillary Gym.

All cheerleaders will need to be at Antioch by 2:45 dressed and ready to go as the bus will leave for Oak Park at 3pm. Parents are asked to pick up their students at Oak Park after the game they are cheering in.

Today's Practice (Wed. - Dec. 2) - Transportation Issues

We were notified just last night that the sports bus schedule was changing for Wednesdays due to the Elementary schools releasing early on Wednesdays. This means that we will not have a sports bus that can pick up students on Wednesdays. It CAN still take them home, however. We are in the process of moving future Wednesday practices to Monday when possible but with this short notice we were unable to move today's practice. So, if your student had planned to ride the bus to practice today, they will need to find alternative transportation if possible. 

The district did offer to pick them up an hour earlier than normal, but we will not have anyone at the school to supervise today. Practice is from 3pm to 5pm today. Please do not drop cheerleaders off before 2:45 if possible.
