Tumbling
Hello Antioch Cheer families!
Today I spoke to the girls about the importance of tumbling for the high school varsity team. I don't want there to be any surprises when the girls are ready to tryout for the high school team and I want all my girls to make a team in high school.
In order to make varsity at Oak Park high school they are wanting the girls to have a back handspring. The goal is to have a highly competitive cheer squad when the girls go on to compete. These classes are not mandatory, however they are highly suggested if you are trying to gain or improve your tumbling skills.
Thank you all!

Note from Varsity.com: “For high school, college, and all-star athletes alike, tumbling has become an integral part of cheerleading. Coaches love it, crowds love it, and judges want to see it performed safely and correctly.”

Tips and Tricks with Ms. Jillian
If you are wanting to see the jump prep and placement of your body here is a quick video of Jillian demonstrating.
Things to remember:
1. Keep your chest up
2. Sharpen up your arms and place them in a T or touchdown motion depending on the jump.
3. Place your arms in every motion of the prep. No swinging your arms.
4. Point your toes!
5. Work on flexibility (hold your splits for a minute each day to get better)

We will supply the shell (top), the skirt, the poms and the bow. You will have the option to either turn in the bow at the end of the year or buy it for $10.
Please make sure you do not have long nails and no acrylic nails are allowed! We also do not allow jewelry of any kind! These are both MSHAA rules for safety when we are stunting.
