Tryouts Tonight!

 

We are very excited to see all the students put their hardwork to the test tonight for tryouts! Just a few important reminders:

1) Bring your COMPLETED application with you. APPLICATION LINK

2) Fill out the COVID19 Screening Form before you enter the building. COVID Screening Form LINK

3) Wear black shorts, white-tshirt with no writing, and pull your hair up if it is long. No jewlery!

4) If you are a returning cheerleader that has not turned in their uniform, please bring it with you tonight!

Warmups are from 3:00 pm to 3:30 pm. Tryouts start at 3:30.  You can leave after you finish your tryout. The sports bus will still be available for those that are currently routed on it. 

The judging is not done by coaches. We have brought in outside experts that do not know you to judge you and their scores are added together for a composite score.

Final decisions about squad members will not be announced until after 1st Quarter Grades are posted. You cannot be failing 2 or more classes and qualify to cheer.

Basketball Cheer Clinic and Tryout Material

 We are excited to welcome all potential Antioch Spartan Basketball Cheerleaders to our first day of clinics! Don't forget you must have a current physical to participate. 

If you are not already at school on Monday, check in at the front of the building to have your temperature taking and fill out the COVID Screening form. You will be sent to the small gym from there. 

If you are already at school, be at the small gym ready to go at 3:00pm. Don't forget you must have a ride that can pick you up by 5:00pm. All students must be picked up on the East side of the school by the gym doors.

Uniform Turn-In

Football Cheerleaders:

Please bring your uniform to the 1st day of clinics with you. 

If you are not trying out for basket ball cheer, please return your uniform to Coach Edens (or the office) no later than November 1st. If uniforms are not turned in by that date, a financial obligation will be placed on your school account until it is returned.

Last Game and Awards Tonight!

 Tonight is our last game! It is the championship game for the Antioch Spartans undefeated "B" team!

 GAME DETAILS

The game starts at 4:00 pm. Each cheerleaders is allowed 2 spectators as usual, and you must give their name at the gate.  

Cheerleaders need to be at school dressed and ready by 2:30 today! This is earlier than normal, and it is so we can feed them and still have time to warm up for the game. 

Cheerleaders must have ALL pieces of their uniform or they will not be allowed to cheer. This includes warmups. 

AWARD CEREMONY DETAILS

After the game is over and the spectators from the game have left the field, cheerleaders may have up to 6 family members come to watch awards. We are asking that families go stand with their cheerleaders on the field and wear a mask AT ALL TIMES during the awards ceremony since we are allowing more people. Cheerleaders and their families will be standing on different yard lines. 

We do not have a specific time that the game will be over so additional family members may have to wait outside the gate or in their cars until the game is over. Also please note that not every cheerleader will receive an award. Also we do not expect awards to last more than 15 minutes. 

Basketball Cheerleading Clinic and Tryouts - Oct. 26, 28, and 29th

Winter Cheer is about to start and we are excited to invite any and all Antioch Middle School students to come tryout for the 2020-2021 Basketball Cheerleading Squad! Below are some FAQs that will help you get started.

What is clinic? 

This is where we teach you all the material you need to know for tryouts.

When and where will clinics be held? 

Monday, Oct. 26 and 28th from 3pm to 5pm in the small gym at Antioch Middle School. 

You need to attend clinic both days as tryout material may be different on different days.

What do I need to wear and bring with me?

For clinics you need to wear workout appropriate clothes, tennis shoes, and bring a big water bottle. If you have long hair, pull it up in a pony tail and away from your face. Jewelry is not allowed including peircings and must be removed prior to attending clinic. 

*Also you must have a current physical the 1st day of clinics. You will not be allowed to participate in clinics if you do not have one either already on file with the school, or a current copy of one from a doctor.

Will there be bus transportation for clinics?

If you are currently riding a sports bus to and from a sport you can utilize the bus for clinics and tryouts. If you are not currently riding the bus FOR A SPORT you must provide your own transportation to clinics and tryouts. If you are selected for the squad we can arrange to add you to the sports bus route.

Can students that are 100% virtual tryout? 

Yes.

- You must bring a completed application that is signed by you and a parent in order to tryout

- You must wear black shorts and a white T-shirt with no print specifically on tryout day. 

- You can leave after you tryout.

10/20 Championship Game for Antioch A Team!

Tonight the Antioch Spartans defend their undefeated title in the Championship as one of only four middle schools in the KC Metro that have gone undefeated this season!

WHERE: 

Tonights game will be held at Antioch Middle School. 

WHEN: 

The game starts at 4pm

SPECTATORS:

Each cheerleader is allowed 2 people in the spectator area. You will need to give your cheerleaders name at the gate. Minor children count and must be accompanied by an adult. Masks must be worn even out doors at all times while on school property. Bring your own chairs.

ADDITIONAL INFO: Cheerleaders need to be at the school dressed and ready with all uniform items no later than 3:00 pm. Cheerleaders please remember to bring a big water jug and your warmup jacket and pants as it may get cold.  Your parents need to pick you up at 7:30, unless the game ends earlier. If it looks like we will finish early, we will have you call your rides and let them know.

10/16 Antioch vs. Bingham

We are so excited to be Spartans as we are one of four undefeated teams in the KC Metro! We were fired up to cheer them on to victory against New Mark and tonight we will be cheering for our Spartants against Bingham!

10/13 Antioch vs. Newmark

 Hey Spartan Cheerleading Fans!

Come watch the Antioch Spartans play New Mark Middle School and see the new stunts we have been practicing!

WHERE: 

Tonights game will be held at Antioch Middle School. 

WHEN: 

The game starts at 4pm

Each cheerleader is allowed 2 people in the spectator area. You will need to give your cheerleaders name at the gate. Minor children count and must be accompanied by an adult. Masks must be worn even out doors at all times while on school property. Bring your own chairs.

ADDITIONAL INFO: Cheerleaders please remember to bring a bit water jug and your warmup jacket and pants as it may get cold. We will cheer for both A and B games. Your parents need to pick you up at 7:30 even if the B is not over yet. If it looks like we will finish early, we will have you call your rides and let them know.

Antioch vs. Maple Park Game 10/6

LOCATION:

 The game tomorrow will be played at MAPLE PARK MIDDLE SCHOOL and not Winnetonka.

SPECTATORS:

Each athlete will be allowed 2 spectators. They must give the athlete's name at the gate. All minors must be accompanied by an adult and count against the athlete's two people. We are being asked to sit behind our team on the North side of the field. 

TIME: 

The game starts at 4pm. Cheerleaders need to be at Antioch dressed and ready no later than 3pm. The bus leaves at 3:15 and will not wait. We will be staying until the game is over and we prefer that cheerleaders ride the bus back to the school. Parents can pick them at Antioch when the game is over. Cheerleaders will be allowed to call parents to notify them we are on our way back.

WHAT TO BRING:

Cheerleaders should dress in full uniform that includes:

 - White Shoes
 - White No-Show Socks
 - Navy Blue Briefs
 - Navy Blue Body Liner
 - Skirt & Shell
- Bow
- Warm Up Pants & Jacket
 - Game Poms (Blue and White)
 - Mask
- Water Bottle (filled)

*For students that are already at school, they may want to bring dinner or a snack with them to school so they have something to eat before the game.
